Synopsis
The St Adolphus Campanology Society (Sacs) have unexpectedly won a prestigious 8 bell peal competition In Oxford.
The peal was a new composition written by a member of Sacs and won great acclaim from the Oxford Judges.
Sacs throw a party to celebrate their triumph, inviting the whole church congregation.
The Vicar is delighted and puts on a two course meal for all.
During the celebrations the door bursts open and a female bell ringer from a rival group barges in accusing Sacs of stealing a member from her society, the very member who wrote the very successful 8 bell peal.
A huge row erupts with the rival campanologist throwing accusations, threats and abuse at everybody before leaving via the bell tower.
Some time later she is found dead at the base of the tower with a broken neck.
DCI Holmes is called and announces that he believes she has been murdered.
He questions the Sacs members before the guests who then are invited to do the same. After a brief hiatus, Holmes unmasks the killer by a process of elimination.
