Synopsis
B.E.P.A.S….Bucks Elvis Presley Appreciation Society are holding their annual Elvis convention to find out which of the King’s impersonators can claim his crown for this year. Guests from all over the county have been invited to listen to the five finalists and judge by ballot which impersonator has represented their hero in the best manner.
Each of the five finalists will bring along his wife, Pricilla , whose job it is to drum up support for their husband’s efforts on the stage. Elvises’ meet the guests for the first forty minutes in an informal cocktail party atmosphere
One by one the finalists take to the stage and sing the Elvis song of his choice.
After the songs have been sung and whilst the ballot is being taken, the five impersonators with their wives have the chance to talk to guests in an informal manner.
The object of this “walkabout” is to give each contestant the chance to promote himself and his claim to the King’s crown.
The moment of truth arrives as the result of the ballot is given to the Master of Ceremonies. The envelope is opened to hushed expectation but just as the winner is about to be revealed one of the contestants suddenly collapses in agony.
A doctor is called for and the man is pronounced dead.
He is carried out by the other contestants on a stretcher.
The MC calls for calm and declares that as the death appeared to be suspicious the police would be informed.
All guests are told to remain seated until the Police Officers arrive.
Remaining contestants with wives circulate amongst the guests expressing their horror at the turn of events.
Enter Detective Chief Inspector Sherbert Holmes..
Contestents and Pricillas are called to the front and are questioned by the detectives one at a time in front of the guests who are then invited to question the suspects themselves.
After a brief interval during which the suspects are taken out for a strip search, Holmes returns and reveals the culprit through a process of elimination.
