Murdered!!
Synopsis
It is Bob Bradley’s sixty fifth birthday and he has thrown a party for his friends and business partners.
Bob is a local builder who started his business (Bob’s Houses) twenty years ago and has apparently gone from strength to strength despite a slump in the housing market.
Apart from Bob himself and his wife Anita others invited by Bob are Joe Bevan, Bobs accountant, his girlfriend Lindi Warrington and Darren Fletcher, Bob’s labour gang foreman.
Unbeknown to most of his friends Bob is a drug baron, running drugs via his labour gang around the county and making a small fortune. He has a large house in Gerard’s Cross complete with swimming pool and a flat in London (where he negotiates his drug supply.) He has two cars, a BMW series 7 and a Morgan hand-built vehicle. His wife has a Lexus.
Bob is also having an affair with Lindi unknown to both Anita and Joe.
Joe runs Bobs accounts and is also an enforcer for the drugs operation, making sure that users pay up or suffer the consequences of not paying. He is also responsible for laundering the drugs money.
Darren Fletcher has been with Bob for eighteen months and in that time has proved himself an invaluable asset in not only getting houses built in time and on budget but organising drug deals with local dealers. Darren is an undercover police operative planted to get evidence against Bob and get him put away for good. He was also having an affair with Anita, Bob’s wife. Earlier today however, Darren was unmasked and brutally murdered at a building site in Widmer End.
D.I. Wilson arrives and explains that he has been called to take charge of the case, however DCI Rawlinson is in overall charge and is currently overseeing the gathering of evidence and instructing Wilson on what to display.
Wilson is however, a bent copper in the pay of Bob. He discovered that Darren Fletcher was on the brink of blowing the whole operation open so killed him to keep him quiet.
Lindi Warrington is also an undercover agent unbeknownst to Darren. She seduced Joe in order to get to Bob and gather more information. Bob made her his secretary.
